The WDCEP partnered with DC GIS (a program within OCTO) to incorporate its retail site information into a Microsoft Surface and unveiled the "Hands on DC" application at ICSC's RECon Global Retail Real Estate Convention this past May.
The interactive table and "Hands on DC" tool allowed visitors to find retail opportunities in DC by using their fingers (similar to iPhone gestures) to navigate DC and select specific sites to display images, floor plans and detailed information such as available square feet, contacts and delivery date.
“Hands on DC” was located in WDCEP’s 2,400 sq. ft. booth and offered information on more than 280 retail sites, representing the city’s 5.8 million square feet of available retail space. These retail sites ranged from neighborhood locations to large mixed-use developments that will be available over the next three to ten years.
The application also allowed interested parties to select the WDCEP’s Neighborhood Profiles to learn more about the neighborhoods, demographics and future development plans around various retail sites.
The “Hands on DC” Microsoft Surface will be on display at the WDCEP’s office for the next few months.
