Description:  
Initial plans include a 1,167-room hotel with approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a 30,000 sq. ft. ballroom and two junior ballrooms in the 900 block of Massachusetts Avenue. There will also be approximately 401 new parking spaces. Groundbreaking is expected to occur in 2009 and delivery is expected in 2013. The former AFL building will be transformed to incorporate 42 hotel rooms. The DC Government will provide $134 million in tax increment financing. The land is under a 99-year ground lease from the city.
