Keith J. Sellars
Senior Vice President, Development & Retail – Washington, DC Economic Partnership


Keith Sellars has extensive experience in urban retail markets and real estate development.
During a 13 year career with Whole Foods Markets, the country’s largest natural foods supermarket, he opened and managed stores throughout the United States, including California, Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Carolina and Washington, DC. Prior to his employment with the Washington, DC Economic Partnership, he was with The Rappaport Companies of Mclean, Virginia, where he managed a shopping center portfolio of more than 700,000 square feet in and around the Washington metropolitan region.

Keith Sellars has been with the Washington, DC Economic Partnership for over four years. Since beginning in fall 2002, he has held the titles of Manager and then Director for Retail Development. His knowledge of urban markets and experience with retail business development and outreach to the business community earned him the position of Vice President for Development and Retail in the summer of 2006.

Keith played a significant role in developing the structures that have made the Economic Partnership a successful organization. He is responsible for Business Development for WDCEP and has run successful fundraising campaigns for the organization. He is a graduate of the Real Estate Apprenticeship Program (REAP) and has been recognized within the District government and the greater business community.

Keith represents both the WDCEP and the District of Columbia as a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Over the past four years at the ICSC Annual Meeting, he has secured an average of 70 meetings with national retailers in support of the District of Columbia’s retail recruitment efforts. Under his leadership, WDCEP has attracted such retailers as:

  • Harris Teeter
  • Trader Joe's
  • Neiman Marcus (CUSP)
  • Macy's

  • DC Building Industry Association

  • International Economic Development Council
